Travel: Mendoza - Itineraries

Perdriel

  • Perdriel marks the beginning of what I call the winery corridor of Mendoza, which starts after the Ruta 40 crosses the Mendoza River and includes, from north to south, the districts of Pedriel, Agrelo and Ugarteche, all located in Lujan de Cuyo.

Even on a warm summer day, you will be cool while riding under the gigantic poplar trees that line each dirt road in the area. There are no sidewalks, so you may find yourself sharing the street with children walking to school, buses, harvest trucks, stray cats and dogs, and families walking or biking to work. But this isn't Rutherford, where every house and winery is immaculately kept. Old adobe houses with cracked walls, pretty wildflower gardens and clothes hanging on an outdoor line share the landscape with beautifully restored wineries. The area has several important wineries, some new, some old.
